German business KETTLER, also known as KETTLER GmbH, has offices all over the world and is headquartered in Ense-Parsit. The business manufactures fitness equipment, patio furniture, and riding toys.
1949: With six employees, the “Metallwarenfabrik Heinz-Kettler” started on 15 January 1949.
Initially, the “Metallwarenfabrik Heinz-Kettler” sold aluminium goods such as cookware and cake plates. First successes came with retail customers such as Karstadt, Kaufhalle and Woolworth…
1952: And yet: In 1952 Kettler gave up household goods. The competition was too great, reasonable economic returns could no longer be achieved. But the really promising follow-up production was already in the starting blocks: camping furniture and camping accessories for the tent industry.
1958: The PICCOLO camping chair finally opened the series of “legendary” Kettler products, i.e. those that went down in the company’s history as particularly successful. While production in the years up to 1958 came to 300 PICCOLOS per shift, the maximum was reached at the end of the 60s with 18,000 PICCOLOS per day.
1960: “Innovation” continued to be the motto. Existing products were constantly improved, and the list of new products grew continuously. In particular, the product range in the areas of playground equipment, winter sports and household helpers was expanded. At the end of 1960, the first KETTCAR rolled off the assembly line – Heinz Kettler had brought the idea for this four-wheeled children’s vehicle from the USA.
1963: The range of camping and garden furniture developed more and more mature and luxurious. At the beginning of the sixties, the relax health lounger with its adjustable headboard and footboard became a bestseller, and some even used it as a TV chair.
1968: And another product expanded the Kettler range in the 60s: the bicycle, whose image changed for the better at that time. It was no longer a replacement for those who could not afford a car, but gained a reputation as a fitness and sports equipment.
1970: With a rowing machine, the entry into the home sports sector had started relatively cautiously in 1969/70. In the following two decades, however, the production of sweat-inducing fitness enhancers was to grow into the most important pillar of the company.
In 1974, a new worldwide triumph was achieved: Heinz Kettler, for years one of the leading manufacturers of table tennis tables, had succeeded in developing the first table tennis table that did not suffer from airs and graces of the weather.
1975: Visually and technically even more impressive was the ergometer a few years later, which Kettler presented for the first time at the SPOGA in 1975 and which in the following years – always brought up to date with the latest technology and design – Kettler’s way to market leadership.
1980 – 2005: Until his death in 2005, Heinz Kettler continued to successfully expand the company KETTLER, among other things through the internationalization and founding of sales companies in the largest sales markets in Europe and the USA.
2006-2007: KETTLER began assembling his BASIC-Line range in Chinese under the control of KETTLER GmbH Brand in an effort to reach a larger market and provide bikes and ellipticals at cheaper price.
2009: After the success of the Basic range, KETTLER replaced the Basic range with a new range. AXOS is a magnificent line that is stronger than the Basic line, with more models of bikes and allipticals, new treadmills, powerstations, and rowers.
